The Trip

Without any training or real experience on bikes, we hopped on our saddles on September 4th 1996, with no real set plans apart from wanting to eventually get to Kathmandu, Nepal.

Our trip proved to be vast and diverse.  We would sometimes find ourselves on dirt tracks or on paved roads, riding across arid deserts or high snow covered plateaus, rolling through small villages or through crowded and polluted cities. We let the daylight determine our rhythm and let the seasons choose our route.

The bicycle allowed us to experience the odours and perfumes of the world. It especially opened the doors to the hearts of people who showered us with unexpected kindness, generosity and hospitality.

Without a schedule and at the slow pace of our bikes, we adopted a carefree manner of living which ended up lasting 8 years.  We finally returned to our home on Lake Geneva on December 19th 2004, after having pedalled across more than 42 countries.    ->Map
